Hello! I added you back! Mulder/Scully will always be my true love. :) I'm pretty mono-fannish and once I fell into Sherlock, the XF faded a bit into the background. That said, I still love (most of) the show so much. I'm happy to see another Phile!

I feel you. I just discovered Sherlock a few months ago (and promptly binge watched the whole thing) and it's been eating my brain ever since!

I do feel lucky for that bit, but part of me wonders if I missed out on a time when the fandom was more lively. Although I am pleasantly surprised that there are still so many people active here and on Tumblr/AO3/Twitter.

I came into Sherlock fandom during the first hiatus, a few months before S2 aired in the UK (and back then, it didn't air on PBS until a few months AFTER the UK, so there was a lot of illegal streaming/downloading here!). Fandom is not the same as it was when I first joined. It changed after each series as new people came in or others left for various reasons. It's been a wild ride!

I will say that as polarizing as S4 has been and as much as I do miss early fandom, I've had more fun in the last couple of years. There is still so many people who adore the show, warts and all, and who are making original content for it. Even I, who mostly lurked in Sherlock for the longest time and pretty much did nothing but lurk in XF fandom, have been more creative in the last couple of years. Who knows if we'll get a S5 (I have hopes), but I think Sherlock fandom is here for a good long while.
